Crown Hotel Bawtry backs a winner with top female Jockey!

The Crown Hotel at Bawtry has backed a winner by sponsoring top leading girl jockey Kelly Harrison for the new Flat Season.

The region's renowned racing hotel is looking forward to being in the winner's enclosure with the Yorkshire born rider this summer, for Kelly will wear the distinctive Crown Hotel logo on her breeches in every race she takes part in.

"I'm delighted to be sponsored by The Crown," she says. "Every race meeting I ride at is televised so I'm looking forward to promoting such a fantastic hotel to millions of people.

"Having the support of The Crown is a great help to me as I establish myself among the professional ranks this season," she adds.

Kelly, 26, is competing on level terms with the likes of Frankie Dettori, six times former champion Kieren Fallon and record breaking girl rider Hayley Turner after completing her apprenticeship during the winter.

She had to reach the 95 winner mark to become a fully-fledged professional jockey and achieved that landmark by winning on John Potts at Wolverhampton in December - a victory that was celebrated with a champagne reception back at The Crown.

Craig Dowie, managing director of The Crown Hotel, adds: "We worked with Kelly on a number of projects last year and are very happy to extend our sponsorship agreement. She has already established herself as one of the most successful female jockeys in the history of the sport by riding over 100 winners and becoming a senior professional, and we are looking forward to being a part of her success through 2011."

Kelly took part in the racing themed evening hosted by The Crown for the Bawtry Business Club in January, and writes a regular column in the local Society and Lifestyle Magazine. You can keep up to date with her progress by following her on Twitter via crownhotel-bawtry.com.
