The Crown hotel in Bawtry continues to strengthen its reputation as the areas number one equestrian hotel.
With the expert help of Simon Mapletoft, a presenter of Sky Sports’ At the Races, as a Racing advisor for the hotel, they joined forces with Matthew Wright, a local international Event rider who is hoping to secure a place in the 2012 Olympic Games.
Matthew, 28, based at Lound near Retford, will promote the Crown hotel to the eventing world in an ambassadorial role through word of mouth and also by wearing the hotel’s branding.
Craig Dowie Hotel Director said: “Matthew is such a talented guy, and we are both thrilled and proud to be working with him to join our existing portfolio of equine bonds, including sponsoring female Jockey Kelly Harrison and also our links with Doncaster Racecourse, The Vale of York Polo Club and the Doncaster Bloodstock Sales.”
Matthew’s local stable accommodates around 40 event horses for local and national owners, and Matthew has had a storming 2011 which has propelled him up the world rankings in eventing alongside riders such as Mark Todd, Andrew Nicholson and Ollie Townend.
He has recorded 17 successes already, including two in the high profile Express Eventing Series. He secured a top 20 finish at Badminton this year with Well Spotted, who he aims to compete in the four-star international at Burghley in September.
Craig added: “Matthew can be seen on a regular basis hosting and entertaining in the Crown Hotel’s bar and restaurant, and we look forward to a great working relationship with him.”
Matthew continues to compete in top event in both Britain and Europe in preparation for 2012.
